Reading Group Discussion Guide:
1. The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle begins in a linear way, but then shoots off in many directions. How did the different narratives enrich the story?
2. Did one host(s) feel more useful or do you think they all contributed equally to solving the mystery?
3. No character is ever what they first appear to be. Who is your favorite character (not just hosts) and why? Least favorite? Did you change your mind about any of them?
4. Which character do you think undergoes the biggest transformation?
5. This mystery was set up like a puzzle. Were there any pieces that did not fit? In other words, was there anything left unsolved?
6. Why do you think the Plague Doctor took such an interest in helping Aiden? Why the Plague Doctor costume?
7. What or who do you think are the deaths in The 7 ½ Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle? Where does the half death enter the narrative?
8. Aiden displays characteristics from each of his hosts and their memories become clearer the further in he gets. How much of the original Aiden is left and what characteristics do you think solely belong to him?
9. Anna is revealed to be Annabelle Caulker and is in Blackheath because she murdered Aiden Bishop’s sister. Why do you think Aiden remains determined to save her even after learning this?
10. Why do you think Daniel Coleridge was put in Blackheath?
11. Were you surprised when you learned of the real Evelyn and her secret?
12. What recurring symbols or themes throughout the book? Was there an overall theme?
Hope to see all your lovely faces this Thursday at 5pm on Zoom! :)
