editing the order of books in a series

Does anyone know how to delete a book from a series and then re-order the rest? I have librarian status but not sure how to do it.

How was explained. But perhaps why should be explored as well.

Unless it was added in error, a book should not usually be removed from a series, even if it is no longer available, etc.
