Who is the rightful successor to the Conan series of books?

The Conan books by Robert E. Howard et al. are masculine heroism at their finest. The ultimate masculine hero, Conan the Cimmerian is strong, fast, womanizing, and cunning, but not invincible. Your recommendation does not have to belong to the Sword and Sorcery genre (Ian Flemming's Bond comes to mind), but ultimately I would like to know the books that best carry this mantle within this genre.
