Whereas I'm kind of bored.
The chapter I just finished seemed predictable and annoying. I'm just not sure if it belongs in this section or the next to discuss it.
So far this doesn't seem as good as the last one, but it's still early. I'll listen to a big chunk tomorrow during my long drive.

I liked the turtle-bear quote too Alex. And I do NOT like the Teia remaining a slave thing - right now that seems like a situation that had its use and should be over.
I just mean the Teia story line. It feels like I've read the story before. I'm hoping something surprising/more interesting happens with her soon. Disappointed because she was one of my favorite characters in the last one..
And yeah, despite my general dislike of Kip, I enjoyed that quote as well. I find him less annoying than I did in the first book. It seemed like he grew up a bit in the second book, though not enough for me to like him I guess.

OK so that part definitely is in this section but it's like the very end..so don't read the rest of this post unless you finished.
Everyone good?
OK.
So Teia getting framed for murder so the have their hooks into her is so infuriating. It's such a cliche. *sigh*
He seems to retcon bad ideas pretty quickly though. Like he did with Gavin murdering that girl. So I'm hoping he does something more interesting than the whole Teia living a dual life trying to escape the assassin's guild and afraid to tell anyone in the Black Guard of her dilemma for fear of them being killed. Because I really don't want to read that tired story...

I agree that the whole dual life thing is tired but at this point everything thing in fantasy is. It is about what you can do with that troupe to put a new spin on it that makes authors good.

Like Rob, I am also not happy to Teia be traded as a slave once again - only to fall into the framed can't tell anyone cliche. But then it pissed me off when they did it to Liv, and her character took a surprising (yet still infuriating) direction.
I am enjoying the book though, definitely a change of pace from PSS (as it, it has a good pace). I'm eager to see Kip and Gavin return, though I am not sure what Kip will do once he gets back, seeing that Andross is no longer a wight.
The Greyling brothers remind me of Rosencrantz and Guildenstern for some reason.
Seems like Karris is being groomed to become the next White?
Loving Kip's one-liners, and glad that he is starting to respect himself a bit more.

I'm confused about how someone even GOT Teia's papers - I was under the impression that they were safe, signed, and just needed to be turned in, and then someone else suddenly had them and blackmailed her. Maybe I missed that part.

I still have difficulty just sitting back and enjoying this series for some reason I guess.
