I almost read this one for this week myself, but I've had the book I did choose on my list for ages and it's a classic in my favorite genre so I'm going with it instead.
This one is on my list... I've been told this one is fantastic and look forward to it in a couple weeks :D
I really enjoyed this book. If you grew up in the 80s and/or are a geek or a gamer, I think you'll love it.
Super stoked about this one... I got my library copy, but I'm not finished with my week 4 book yet. ARG. Too many books and not enough time. Course... still a couple weeks ahead, but whatever. That's what renewal is for!
YAY! Finally done with my week 4 book, and raring to go at this one! The audiobook was even narrated by Will Wheaton! (for you who aren't as geek, he played another famous Westley, but this one was on Star Trek The Next Generation with Patrick Stewart as Picard) He also hosts a weekly/monthly show of Tabletop Games on Geek and Sundry. Check him out.
That's awesome about the audiobook, Steven! I love Tabletop on Geek and Sundry! And STNG too! *purrs* Patrick Stewart. Rawr. Whoa, sorry, that got awkward fast.
Bah, Steven! I'm too excited for this book already. I wish it was Week 5. I just started my Week 2 book (even though technically we're going into Week 3 - I got caught up in my side read.)
I tell you, it's really handy using audiobooks if you can get a hold of one from a library... I normally don't have a lot of time to just sit and read a book, but I have a ton of time driving... with almost 8 hours a week or more of driving, its perfect. And yes, this book is absolutely awesome... I'm probably biased as I love video games and geeky things concerning the 80s... for the most part.
I just finished reading this book as my week five book. Holy references, Batman! I think I was born about five years too late to get a lot of them, but I still enjoyed this adventure nonetheless.
Posted my review for this... all I can say, again, is why didn't I find it sooner? Oh well, found it now!
I already have a book for this week :-) but now I really really want to read this. I graduated high school in 1987 so I think I will get all the references, so if I finish my other book which I probably will I will read this one as well this week.
I may be a little biased but I think it's a fantastic story. There are some brick walls per as far as the story goes... like... he'll stop frequently, mentioning some random piece of game, movie, or music reference, and in some cases it takes him awhile to go through some of that but aside that, its a good read! (I actually enjoyed the reference blocks, but that's probably just me)
Yusss! I'm reading this for my week 5 book, and pairing it with the soundtrack on youtube "Ready Player One: The Music of the OASIS" for extra fun times :D
I'm convinced I just downloaded this book onto my phone going to start listening super soon :-) I am a child of the 80s so I need to listen to this, for sure!
I am about halfway through the audiobook :-) I am really enjoying it! The narrator who I guess was in a*Track does a very good job. I think you'll enjoy it ;-)
That's who it is :-) the only T The show I ever watched was the very first one :-) Forced to buy my brothers when we only had five channels, yes I am dating myself :-)
Just finished the book! I really enjoyed it :-) got most of the references, even though the only video games I played were Frogger and Adventure.
I have finished week 7th's book, so I am coming back to read this one (which I missed cause I started late). Only at 4% and I am hooked!
Well... that went downhill fast. It grabbed me in the set up, but after that first chapter........meh. I think it is the author's pacing and penchant for explaining that is bugging me. Gonna read this as fast as I can to get through it, like ripping off a bandaid.
