I really want to read My Son's Story. Keep me posted if you decide on a book. I'm up for one. Never read Gordimer.
I'm interested in Gordimer as well. I have never read anything by her and I have 'July's People' on my TR-shelve. Of course, I would read anything else by her as well. Cheers - Jasmine.
@Douglas & Jasmine:-It will be best if both of you choose the title to read together. I'm not sure I can join in yet as the monthly slots are filling up fast. But something post-June could work out.
As I haven't read anything by her, I'm fine with Douglas' proposal of 'My son's story' or one of the title Samadrita proposed. A suitable time slot for me would be something between April and September.
As a South African I am happy to see an author from my country represented and feel like I should join in. Especially since I haven't read anything of Gordimer yet. Of the eight South African novels we did at Uni only one was by a woman: Rayda Jacob's The Slave Book (really good book). I think that's kind of sad.I can get any of Gordimer's books so I will see towards which one the majority leans.
The Pickup
is the book I feel should be on the senior high school or freshman college reading list of every U.S. student. I consider it an especially astute exploration of values and (emigrant) challenges between cultures.
"The Pickup" sounds really good or any of the others suggested. April could also work for me as I have no reading for that month yet.
Don't wait around for me, you guys. Pick a title to read and get busy. Mid year-ish will be a busy time for me so I'll just be keeping an eye on the thread.
I'd love to join -- I have a ton of Gordimer's books waiting to be read, and I haven't read any of them yet.
I read the blurb of "The Pick up" and I think it's a good book to start with. And April would be fine for me as well.
Hello! I've read so far "Jump and Other Stories" and "July's People" (I was very impressed with the first one and the second was really good as well). In case you choose a book I haven't read, I would love to join...and if you choose a book I read, I'd love to read other opinions about them.
Count me in. I'll pretty much read anything Gordimer at any point after February. I have so many of her books and haven't read any of them.

Given that she passed away this year, I'm all for renewed interest in her works in 2015. Having already read The Conservationist and July's People, I'll be up for a group reading of any of her other titles. I already have None to Accompany Me and Jump and Other Stories on the kindle though.
