I second this!! It's really wonderful! :D

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 1859 comments If you are still looking for a book with antonyms, read Hotel on the Corner of Bitter and Sweet. It's historical fiction and a really nice book!

Srividya Vijapure (theinkedmermaid) | 1859 comments If you haven't read Sharp Objects and don't mind being tortured..It is a popular author's first book! :P I didn't like this one much but I read it for the same category and incidentally many have liked it, so who knows, you might like it too! ;)

JD Robb's In death series, of which, Naked in Death is the first book is a book set in the future. It is a crime thriller and is pretty good a series as well. You can use that! :)

For love triangle - Casting Spells is a nice book. It's a cosy mystery and pretty fast read, with a touch of magic and magical elements etc. It is predictable at one level while also being intriguing at another.. Not a great read but definitely a nice one!

For Christmas I would've suggested My True Love Gave to Me: Twelve Holiday Stories, but I doubt you'd like it :/

Thanks Girish. I sort of don't like animal characters [though I do like animals in real life]. So would like to find a book where there is minimal animal involvement.

Yayy - I read Agatha Christie's first book a couple of months ago. Just plain forgot. So that one is off the list.

Star trek - no go - Shall find another SP or PS :)

E.T. | 549 comments Before 1850 - Gods, Slaves and Kings by R.Venktesh. Recommended by Amish Tripathi (author of Shiva trilogy)

The book must be published before 1850, not the story per se

message 63: by E.T. (new)

E.T. | 549 comments Oh :) From my to-read list - Pilgrim's progress by Bunyan.

Thanks, Aravind. Have heard it being mentioned a lot in other books, especially Little Women by Louisa May Alcott.

Animal Farm by George Orwell is a political satire on socialism told in a matter of fact way. If zero tolerance on animals, then it's left to zombies and robots i think :)
Asimov then?

message 66: by E.T. (new)

E.T. | 549 comments I think Animal Farm is a must-read for every1. And it will be over by the time u think of leaving it half-read :P
Hardly 100 or so pages.

Even I think Animal Farm is an excellent choice for that category. And it is a very very short read! You'll be done in no time!

For your initials, maybe you can pick up sth by Pearl S. Buck.

Ha..I will try Animal farm. Liked 1984 a lot.
pearl s is a good choice. If I conveniently ignore Buck

Book released before 1850:

Frankenstein?
Or perhaps any of Jane Austen's works or any other classics like The Count of Monte Cristo, Robinson Crusoe, Gulliver's Travels (if you're planing a reread, because I believe you've read 'em all!)
