Sonia has a tough time getting the local police to understand that the Jane Doe (Kirsten) discovered at the river bank needed protection, as well as the hospital personnel. Was it them or some failure on her part to get them to provide adequate security. Do you think if it had been anyone other than Riley he or she would have recognized the intruder as a threat?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments For some reason, hospital personnel didn't take Sonia seriously when she told them they needed protection for the patient. I'd think in this day and age they'd be trained in what to do when protection was requested.

I don't know that another cop would have done anything different than Riley. He started following the suspicious guy who wanted to enter the room, then realized (just in time) that he was leaving the door unguarded. It was a good plan by the bad guys to get rid of their witness.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments The personal at the hospital were in la-la land. A woman is almost beaten to death and left to drown and a federal agent tells them she is in danger and they give her grief. Really stupid.

I don't think any other officer would have done it differently than Riley.

Melissa (melissasd) | 676 comments I agree. I don't know why the hospital staff blew Sonia's warning off. I work for a hospital based EMS service and they would not have done that. She was obviously beaten by someone.
Any good cop would have seen the threat like Riley did.

I found it hard to swallow that the hospital personnel would have been so reluctant to take security more seriously. Sonia wasn’t part of the local law enforcement but it shouldn’t have mattered. It was maddening.

I thought because Riley knew Sonia and what was going on with the investigation he was more tuned in than someone who wasn’t as informed. They might have fallen for the ruse to draw him away from the door and not as hyper vigilant. Maybe I got these feelings because of the hospital’s slow reaction.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I thought it was really strange that the hospital's personnel wouldn't have taken Sonia's claim seriously. She wasn't local, true, but she still was law enforcement.

I think because Riley knew what was going on, he realized what was happening. I don't think someone who didn't know the entire situation wouldn't have handled things as well as Riley.
