The story begins with Sonia being sold into human trafficking by her father and watching her friend die right before she has to kill her own attacker. Your thoughts about that scene?

[Robin]

That was an intense scene. I wasn't sure how far it would go until she either escaped or was rescued. I actually thought she would kill the rapist before he killed her friend.

[Anita]

It was a really horrible experience for Sonia. Being sold by her father, watching her friend die and then having to kill the attacker are things that will permanently impact her.

Tragic and sad. It gives you a good idea of how the rest of the book is going to go.

It was a graphic and brutal start, one that gave me pause. I knew the rest of the story was going to be hard to take.
