Jessica (jollybookshelf) Week 9: A book written by a female author
February 26 to March 4, 2015

From JK Rowling to Tina Fey, there are some great female authors out there in a wide array of genres!

How to Create a Topic:
1. Choose your book and create a topic in the appropriate folder using your book's author and title.

2. In the body of your post, comment about why you chose this book. Have you read it before? What are your expectations?

3. Feel free to use the thread as a way to update the group on your progress. Also, when you are finished reading, add a small review and your thoughts about the week's challenge.

4. Comment on everyone else's posts as well! Participation and group involvement will make this challenge so much fun!

**If you chose the same book as another group member, do not create a duplicate thread.**

DeAnna (dee84812) This will probably be the easiest week for me, since probably 90% or more of the books I read are written by women!

Jessica (jollybookshelf) Same here DeAnna!!

message 4: by Kristina (new)

Kristina I've actually changed this one to male author for my list. Like DeAnna probably 90% of the books I read are written by women.

Narma | 49 comments I have the opposite. I didn't realize majority of my authors were men.

I'm doubling up on books for this week. I'll be reading The Bell Jar by Sylvia Plath and A Tale for the Time Being by Ruth Ozeki. I thought the latter will be one of those happy books with lots of love. I began reading both last night, and realized both books are about depression and suicide.

This week is going to be a depressing week for me...

Hang in there, Narma! Haha.

I read A Tale for the Time Being last year. It's a very good book, but you're right, not exactly a happy one. Hope you enjoy it, though!

Emilia (bookbug2012) | 34 comments not going to start a new topic on that - I count just the next book I've read for that - and it was Night of the Living Dandelion (A Flower Shop Mystery, #11) by Kate Collins

message 8: by Jessica (new)

Jessica | 225 comments Probably gonna be my easiest week so far. I figure picking a book by a female author, even though I have a ton, will help me get books done that I haven't read and doesn't fit in any other category already taken. :)

Grace Meredith (koreantrash) Louisa May Alcott is a great female author, and she has written a LOT of classics. Her books are super easy to read.

Adriana | 1 comments This week I am reading Fifty shades freed by E L James :) I am halfway through the book and am loving it

Sophie (sawphie) I thought I read almost 50/50 male and female authors, was I wrong! I just classified my read books here on Goodreads and I read 201 books by male author for 81 by female authors! I'm a bit late for the challenge and haven't decided yet what book I'll read for this particular week.
