The firework makers daughter is a short children’s book following the adventure of Lila to prove herself as worthy of being a firework maker to her father, with help from her elephant friends. This is considered a metaphor for making art. There is twists and turns throughout the quest, making this a nail biting read for all, especially the children.
This book was used in a year 4 class’s guided reading sessions where the children explored the characters in the book in great detail. They were thinking about their feelings as the plot progressed through thought tracking, they created summaries of the plot, they wrote short descriptive paragraphs about the fire fiend and they had conversational activities as the characters from the book.
I believe this book is great for young children, the adventure is exciting and gives the message that if you try, you can do and be anything you want. A good message to inspire children.
