This topic is open for discussion of Christmas Jars by Jason F. Wright

Book Synopsis:
Where had it come from? Whose money was it? Was I to spend it? Save it? Pass it on to someone more needy? Above all else, why was I chosen? Certainly there were others, countless others, more needy than me...

Her reporter's intuition insisted that a remarkable story was on the verge of the front page.

Newspaper reporter Hope Jensen uncovers the remarkable secret behind the "Christmas Jars", glass jars filled with coins and bills anonymously left for people in need. But along the way, Hope discovers much more than the origin of the jars. When some unexpected news sets off a chain reaction of kindness, Hope's greatest Christmas Eve wish comes true.

I wondered about it then just went with it since that's obviously not the point of the story.

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Chapter 12-end

Aww this book made me cry.

Going to give it a 3 stars. It was a sweet story and made me cry but there wasn't much substance and it was pretty unrealistic.

Marla | 1803 comments Though maybe these people were so thankful they wanted to share something with others. You don't have to give some people a lot, it might just be a case of it's the thought that counts. And when they have more they can give more.

I would completely believe that they would join in the tradition at some point but I suppose it was the growth rate of it that I found a bit unbelievable. Plus at least some of the people wouldn't be able to contribute at all if they were living on nothing and scraping by for awhile.

It's supposed to be a sweet feel good story though so if I ignored the logical aspects then it was nice.

I know it's completely unrealistic but it's a very sweet story.

However, I feel like it's really a repeat of the book Pay It Forward..."

I liked the end of this book, but I wanted to comment that I never liked the ending of the movie Pay It Forward. (view spoiler)

Kelly (ladykatala) | 5020 comments Pay it forward made me cry at the end. I think that was probably the point of the ending :-/ I haven't seen it in a long time though so my recollection is getting vague.
