Traveling with the Shergill sisters to India on their pilgrimage trip to honor their deceased mother was a fun distraction for me, during this week of world wide panic concerning the corona epidemic. The characters were a trifle thin, the plot was implausible in parts, but the story itself was compelling enough to hold my interest. I especially liked Mrs. Shergill's written instructions to her daughters and the descriptions of the Sikh shrines they visited. Each daughter was a sympathetic character. My favorite was Jezmeen, the black sheep.
