I cannot believe I never read this as a child. What a joy! Meg is a wonderful character for girls to embrace. She is smart and brave but not like the other girls. Her parents always recognized their childrens' unique talents and encourage them to be their unique selves. As the 3 children are whisked away on their adventure through space and time, they are guided by three women. They encounter other species that represent both good and evil. Together, with help from the good guys, they conquer the evil It, the darkness and emerge into to the light and the love. I am feeling the need for the light and the love right now as we fight the evil coronavirus, maybe this is a good book to share with your kids while schools are closed.

I had the exact same reavtion when I read it a few mo ths ago.

I am finding that reading various classics I never read in childhood is perfect right now.

I used to borrow this book over and over again in 5th grade and up. When I found out there were sequels, and that L'Engle had other series, I was obsessed for years with finding them all.
