ABANDONED. YA - a boy walks along path until he gets to a village who lets him in. Spoilers ahead.

Spoilers ahead — First off, I would like to say that I had a dream of the ending, and woke up with the plot and visuals of the book, so it has to be real, right?... if it is, I read it when I was younger; 14 and younger. All I can remember is that the boy is walking down a path (could possibly be with someone, a girl?) until he reaches a village. The village lets him in, and he meets some of the people. I think there’s a reference to the title somewhere, idk... that’s not really important. Now I’m not sure if he himself convinces the village to leave or if they kick him out or if he just wants to leave, but when trying to leave (or maybe they don’t leave and get invaded?), they basically all get killed. I don’t know, in the dream it was a stampede, but I could be wrong. I’m not even sure if this book is real, but I remember it.
