Aibohphobia (aibohpphobia) | 216 comments I have a paperback copy of "The Annotated Alice: The Definitive Edition".

The ISBN on the back cover is 0-965-012714, which is not in the Goodreads database.

However, the same book is listed in Goodreads with an ISBN of 0965012719 - the only difference being that the last digit is 9 instead of 4.

I don't know if this is a typo in the database, a typo on the back cover of my book, or if the book was published under two very similar ISBNs.

Amanda | 2442 comments Based on the Library of Congress ISBN converter, the last digit should be a 9. Best guess is a typo on your book cover, but it is possible that the book was published under 2 ISBNs.

I will completely buy that it's a typo - seems like your source is the most reliable! What an awkward place for a typo.

Mike | 119 comments The correct ISBN is 0965012719
The last digit is a checksum digit to the Base 11!
It can only be one digit 0-9 or X = 11 different digits.

Here is a handy site to check ISBNs

Mike | 119 comments Amanda, basically said the same thing I did! I just missed where she said she used their converter as even the Library of congress has typos. The converters eliminate typos!

I guess you didn't need me.

I never mind having someone as backup :)

Besides, I hadn't seen that site before, so I got a new resource!
