Heike | 152 comments I get a lot of Amazon freebes through BookBub. I signed up for the newsletter and they send me a list of reduced or free books in my preferred genres every day. It's their fault that my TBR list is growing daily :(
I do not know if this works outside the US, sorry.

Heike | 152 comments Not quite free but on sale for $1.99 on Amazon:

Someone to Wed by Mary Balogh.

Not one of my favorites in the series, but still good.

Heike | 152 comments Free on Amazon 05-16-20, also on ku.

Then the Stars Fall by Brandon Witt.

New to me lgbt author (but then: most of them are new to me), but fellow goodreads friends rate highly, and it missed a 5 star rating from one of them because of lack of explicit sex - which is a win-a-star in my ratings ;)

I totally forgot about this series. I stopped after being extremely disappointed by the first one. Does the series get better???

If you didn't like the first book, you may not like the others, even though they do have actual romance, which the first book lacked. I loved Avery, but he sucked as a romantic hero.

2, 5 and 7 were 5star reads for me, which I am not very giving of.
1, 4, and 6 "only" 4stars.
This one here just 3 stars because the book is a lot about finding one-self, getting out of one-selves comfort zone, and conquering self doubts. While it had it's funny moments as well as romantic moments, I did not enjoy it as much as the other books in the series.

As the series goes on the family grows, and all characters have little parts in the next books, making this a series that does not do well as stand alone, IMHO.

Your description of books 3 actually sounds exactly like sth I would love. Huh. Maybe I need to give it another shot...

*haha* - It's cool how we love a lot of the same books, but a little thing can throw each of us off in some stories :)

Like Romancing Mister Bridgerton - I hated it, friends-to-lovers usually don't do it for me, while this is one of you favorite Julia Quinn's (at least on goodreads).
