Anita (anitafajitapitareada) Bookfriends, Audible.com is offering free audiobooks during these school closure.

"For as long as schools are closed, we're open. Starting today, kids everywhere can instantly stream an incredible collection of stories, including titles across six different languages, that will help them continue dreaming, learning, and just being kids.

All stories are free to stream on your desktop, laptop, phone or tablet.

Explore the collection, select a title and start listening.

It's that easy."

Many classics and books for all ages are here on stories.audible.com

Ambrose Miles | 4 comments Thanks, I just checked in at the library. Handy as we are all in mandatory "quarantine".

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) Archive.Org is a free online library. Because of the many school closures, they've begun working with colleges to digitize their libraries for students who can no longer access their campus libraries. That means free access for the rest of us through (I believe I read) June 30. Anyone interested in those academic books that are hard to get through your public library will probably love this!
Announcing the National Emergency Library, a collection of books that supports emergency remote teaching, research activities, independent scholarship, and intellectual stimulation while universities, schools, training centers, and libraries are closed.

Here's a link to their blog post, When school's out, what will we learn? with a link to their National Emergency Library in there. Happy reading!

Anita (anitafajitapitareada) You're so welcome! I was stoked to see quite a few books I hadn't been able to get through public libraries. Enjoy!

Laura Anne | 2 comments Aug 26, 2020 marks the 100th anniversary of the day all U.S. women won the right to vote. In March, my local chapter of the LWV published a book on Amazon, called "Songs of the Suffragists," that tells the history of U.S. feminism through song lyrics.

This month, we released a 30-minute film & discussion guide that are available for FREE. The film and discussion guide can be downloaded from our chapter website: https://www.lwv-bhnps.org.

To the extent anyone is trying to put together a program to celebrate the centennial, I wanted to make them aware of these resources.
