Lisa I recently read that and really liked it! Really cool way to delve into a person's back story, as well as weaving in his current thoughts.

Cece | 4 comments I just started American War by Omar El Akkad. I have been wanting to read it for some time...and although now may seem like the worst timing...I believe I am set for a powerful and thought provoking read.

I just downloaded Simone by Eduardo Lalo—I'm researching Puerto Rican authors and his name popped up. His novel, so far, seems very grounded in Puerto Rican neighborhoods—the smells, the sounds, the energy. I traveled to the island a couple of years ago; now, I'm viewing the barrios in an entirely new light. The power of fiction!

Alison Peacock | 19 comments Right now I find myself reading a lot of magical realism: The Girl Who Chased the Moon by Sarah Addison Allen, which feels like a warm cozy blanket, and The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern, which is just a fun brain break. It feels like a delicious cross between The Shadow of the Wind and Mr. Penumbra’s 24-hour Bookstore. Of course I also quite enjoyed Nine Perfect Strangers by Liane Moriarty. Wicked fun :)

Sara | 3 comments I'm reading the Education of an Idealist by Samantha Power. Every page is intense so far and it's amazing to hear her stories.

Also reading lots of old New Yorkers - no better time!

I've been waiting for The Starless Sea to become available through my library, but I LOVED The Night Circus, Erin Morgenstern's other book. Have you read it?

Chloe | 6 comments Not sure how to respond to specific comments here...but I literally just started reading Night Circus yesterday and enjoyed it so far. Also waiting for Starless Sea to become available :)

No way, that's awesome! In addition to this month's book, I'm now also reading an older fantasy novel, Ombria in Shadow. There's magic, to be sure, but the vibe is pretty different from The Night Circus. Hope you like that one!

Alison Peacock | 19 comments Ah! I have a copy of The Night Circus and have long wanted to read it, but when Starless Sea flashed as a sale ebook last month, I grabbed it and dove in. Very excited that you both like Night Circus, too!
