I read the synopsis of this book on goodreads a couple of years ago. It is definitely an adult book. Essentially a young girl is enslaved by an evil King and must be the caretaker of the dragon who lives in the dungeon. At first the girl is mistreated by both the dragon and the King, but as she gets older, she develops a friendship with the dragon. The evil King dies and the dragon takes over the King's body or the dragon transforms into the King. The dragon is afraid that the girl will abandon him as he now looks like the man who abused her.

Do you remember anything about the cover?
Was this more of a high fantasy, romantic fantasy, suspenseful fantasy, etc?

it didnt seem like a typical romance fantasy so it was more likely high fantasy bordering on the romantic side. I cant remember much about the cover. Most likely it had a dragon on it but that is just an assumption. Thank you for asking me these things
