Anyone interested in reading any of the following with me?

A Soldier's Wish by N.R. Walker (all books in the series can be read individually; if anyone is interested, I also own Christmas Angel and Shrewd Angel; also, A Soldier's Wish and Shrewd Angel are on sale on amazon.de for like 89cents. just sayin :))

Tic-Tac-Mistletoe by N.R. Walker

Spring Strings by Lily Morton

Game Changer (Game Changers, #1) by Rachel Reid

message 103: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) So any ideas, would like to buddy read in the new year?

message 104: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 836 comments Mod
I still haven't read Spring strings and Gamechanger. Other things from my to-read pile:

Axios: A Spartan Tale
Project Hero
Merry Measure
Restored
Reading the Signs
The Trouble With Tony
Something to Talk About
Cinderella Is Dead

New releases for next year:
One Last Stop
Rise to the Sun

We still have to continue the Turner series, so that's happening, and weren't you the one I still have to convince to read KJ Charles? ;)

message 105: by Trip (last edited Dec 30, 2020 12:46PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Im up for Merry Measure and tempted to try Cinderella Is Dead 💕

Also love the look of One last stop! Definitely one to keep eye out for in 2021.

Lol yeah i have only read one kj charles so far, but i know they do a lot of mysterys? I think, which is a genre i tend to avoid 😂

Oh yeah the turners too xx

message 106: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 836 comments Mod
:D Ok, so definitely read more Turner books and Merry Measure then :D

Might I suggest the Society of Gentlemen? It's the only one I can think of right now that isn't full of mystery :D The Ruin of Gabriel Ashleigh (prologue to the series, super short, no mystery, just one short seduction :D). The first full-length book is A Fashionable Indulgence.

message 107: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Ok sweet 😊

Hmm i could be persuaded, A Fashionable Indulgence sounds interesting. I probably won't read the short though as don't care for those xx

Yay! Are you already planning your challenges and buddy reads for next year?

message 109: by Trip (last edited Dec 30, 2020 03:09PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Andrea wrote: "Yay! Are you already planning your challenges and buddy reads for next year?"

Sweet! Not exactly. I've not joined any new challenges for 2021, as going to focus on some solo open ended ones.

Although probably participate in some team challenges during the year as love the interaction, unless i do more buddy reads instead as i just really enjoy reading with others 😂

Oh and possibly going to start doing some bookstagram stuff just for fun 💕

So yeah im lightly planning, but all open at the moment. How about you? Is there any dates in particular want to plan for?

message 110: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 836 comments Mod
Nope, no planning :D Although I think we should read the Christmas one fairly soon :D

message 111: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Lol good way to be! I'm definitley going more relaxed this year on plans, although set a few goals like trying more YA books this year.

Would be good for Merry Measure tomorrow then or the weekend?

message 112: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 836 comments Mod
Tomorrow sounds good :)

message 113: by Trip (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Sweet, look forward to it!

message 115: by Andrea (new)

Andrea | 836 comments Mod
:D I think I read the PC Cast book YEARS ago when I still thought her books were cool. I enjoyed most of the series at the time, but I don't want to find out if I still would, given how much I hated more recent attempts to try her books :D

I was kind of interested in Touch of Darkness, but the reviews I read make it sound like sth I would hate :D

You have a lot of myth retellings in there :D

Sorry :((((

message 116: by Trip (last edited Jan 28, 2021 08:29AM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Lol i loved her Goddess series years ago, and read 1 of the later books in this series. I'm trying to catch up on lots old series i started to see if still interest so totally get you there, i think last i read in 2013 so who knows 😂

Tbh im a little worried a bout touch of darkness now as previously all i kept seeing were people love it, but saw someone today talk about and sounds like not be for me either. But i shall give a try.

I love mythology and retellings, couple my favourite themes and haven't read as many for a while so binge some i guess 😂

Aww its ok, i guess the others didn't interest. I know these a bunch of random options xx

If you have any fantasy ideas let me know though, as im devoting february to fantasy books xx

message 117: by Andrea (new)

What kind of fantasy are you looking for? Like paranormal romance fantasy, or actual fantasy with no romance? ^^

message 118: by Trip (last edited Jan 28, 2021 12:04PM) (new)

Trip (shardsofromance) Andrea wrote: "What kind of fantasy are you looking for? Like paranormal romance fantasy, or actual fantasy with no romance? ^^"

Lol always needs romance, i rarely read anything without 😂

But otherwise it can be world, paranormal or anything really as long as fantasy aspect.

Although, wait. I really liked The Blacksmith Queen

I want to read The Gilded Ones, but I wouldn't really be able to dedicate time to reading until mid-May due to studies. I've been out of the habit of reading for a while now and I have never buddy read, but I'm hoping it will help me get back into it. If May is too late for you, no worries

Trip (shardsofromance) Sorry, none really interest me. Other then Lore which I have read and highly recommend! Always a fan of greek mythology aspect and very inteteresting read, plenty of action xx

message 147: by Heike (new)

Heike | 152 comments You are really jumping on the goodreads choice winners *huh*? Hut ab! :-)
I have not done a buddy read forever, not much time during the summer months.
While I try to get some bestsellers in during my smutty MM reads, your choices are mostly out of my league. I listened to The Invisible Life of Addie LaRue a few month ago, intriguing story line, but very dark and depressing and too much jumping back and forth in time for my taste.
I also read The Man Who Died Twice (as well as the first in the series), which is more along the line of my taste, adult and funny moments :-)

If you have not read The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo yet - this sounds like something I would try, but it will take a while until I get my hands on it from the library.
Same for Lore which I could possibly get a bit quicker (still a couple of weeks at least).

🤣 I was bored. And had a gift card from a bookshop. And. Oh well 🤣 I have little hope for most of them, but I needed sth different and a break from romance, so there we are.I managed to avoid the hype around all of them so far, and have zero idea what I'm in for 🙈

I finished The man who died twice and Evelyn already (the latter was soooooo good and weird!) and am making my way through Mexican Gothic (SO freaking weird that one!!!) at the moment.

I could wait with Lore (which I'm dreading a bit, it seems like it has the most chance of annoying me and running back to romances tbh 🤣

*wow* and you go right in and buy the heavy stuff! I finally discovered that our library has e-books and audio books, so I am filling up there.
Why don't I let you know when I get my hands on Lore and maybe we can reel some other readers in meanwhile. Maybe Laura wants to read it again? 🤣

Well. I also work in a bookshop now again, so. Call it research? 🤣🤣🤣 I mean. Some of them are bound to get a German translation. And seeing as I'm the only one who doesn't wait for translations and reads only om English (except for maybe 2 or 3 German authors), someone has to keep up to date 🤣🤣🤣

Sounds like a plan! Just let me know when you have it!
