Derek I'm really into the series A Song of Ice and Fire by George R. R. Martin, and I know the television series Game of Thrones is very popular.

If anyone wants to discuss anything about either formats, this would be the place.

If you go past casual character talk and want to discuss the plot, make sure you warn people for spoilers!

Abira (shabbyabby) I think George R R Martin is a genious, and it's so great to see that the author is a part of the becoming of the tv-series as well. I read all five books and watched the four seasons that are out yet. I think the plot is great and it's building up to something great! I can't wait for the two last books! And I'm curious about how they're going to filmatically complete them as well... What do you guys think?

Kandice My absolute favorite thing about aSoIaF and aGoT is that Martin wrote them saying they would never be adaptable to the screen and just look how big it has become! One of the things I have always loved about comics, is that unlike movies/tv shows, you don't have to take budget into consideration. You want a HUGE explosion...you draw one! $0.50 of ink and you are set!

Martin wrote aSoIaF with that attitude and now they are beautifully adapting his work because it's really about the people, not the "stuff".

Maggie the Muskoka Library Mouse (mcurry1990) I appreciate the fact that they are staying close to the books. Some things are blatantly obvious that were hinted at in the novel, which changes the story a bit, but I think it's mostly in a good way.

Annie | 11 comments It is gratifying to find a screen adaptation of books that exploits the advantages of its medium - visuals, immediacy, atmosphere -while not reneging on the source material. Specific issues can be and, I'm sure, are, discussed, but I am appreciative of both paper and screen versions.
