Great!
I only heard about it this year and have a brand new paperback ready to read. I usually buy used books, so a brand new book is a real treat.

I love used books and have found many treasures. Half the fun is finding them. This one was a new book when I bought it.

The Chase by Louisa May Alcott is the same book, Miranda.
Thank you for bringing that to our attention.

That would work for anyone who reads it towards the end of our schedule.

Since this appears to be a fast read, should I change the schedule so that we can read it in one month?
This is suspense driven so I am eager to find out what happens next.

It’s up to you. I’m ok with reading a bit faster.

I'll change the schedule then.
How are things with you? It's quiet here, and that's a good thing.

I've shortened the schedule by one week.

I’m good. It will be a month on Wednesday that I’ve been isolated at home. Lots of reading. I’m lucky in that I have what I need.

I know! It's a good choice for right now. I am pacing myself by reading other books too.

It seems like we are the only ones reading the book right now, since other members are probably having difficulty getting the book.

I don't think I can wait six weeks to complete this book, so I thought maybe I could post the future discussion threads early, labelled by week instead of date, so that we can discuss the book while it is fresh on our minds.
That way other readers can join the discussion at any time.

What do you think?

It’s fine by me. I will be happy to keep reading. I actually tend to enjoy a book more when I can read it thru.

So, as I couldn't find a library or e-version of this book I purchased one. It's a physically lovely book with a gorgeous dust jacket and a portrait of LMA and a reproduction of what I assume is the original manuscript in the front and back endpapers. A Long Fatal Love Chase by Louisa May Alcott

As I'm inspecting the book I see that it says first edition and on reading further I realize that it wasn't published until 1995 as it was "too sensational". So I am now the proud owner of a first edition Louisa May Alcott! All for $13.79 CDN!

That’s the same edition I used. I bought it about that time along with two others of her gothic novels. They’ve been on my shelf for years. I was so happy to read it.
