API to identify top genre or include top genre or genre tags in CSV export

Is there an API that could identity top genre for a book?

The API does not return any of the metadata content for books. The closest thing you could do is pull the book data that includes top shelves and look for the first top shelf that seems like a genre and not 'to-read', 'read', etc.
