Good cause I actually just started to read I need it for a couple of challenges and I haven't read the third and final installment to this series. So this works out for me.

If I plan to do a buddy read with someone and know I will get to tier two (2011) can I read/post that book even if I have a few books left on tier 1 (2010) to complete. I know it will not count until I complete tier 1 if its for a tier 2 category book. I have fallen a little behind my schedule since I am still working right now and do not want to push off my buddy read. Thanks

You don't have to do the years in any order, so you can post for 2010, 2011, 2019 whatever you want!

I could potentially do 2010 then skip to 2012 tasks if I wanted? (But you only get the 50 pts for decades completed obviously)

Just making sure I understand correctly, this is only my 2nd solo challenge and the last one I believe had to be done in order of the header sections.

Yes. You can post for any year you want, without having to finish a previous year first.

Last challenge you did have to finish 1 category before you could move on, but this one is a free for all.

Okay so as a rule of thumb if its dystopia I can use it as future? I was deciding between two books for that future spot but I wanted to double check since most books don't outright say 'future'

Nightshade by Andrea Cremer
The Lying Game by Sara Shepard
The Scorch Trials by James Dashner

Now I'm not an admin so I'm not 100% sure but they were all published in 2010 and popular :)
