Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments Last month I picked up the book "1,001 Books You Must Read Before You Die," which lists, shows pictures of, and gives summaries for each book. Of course, I took the book VERY much to heart, and at the ripe old age of 52 I have no time to waste. I could get hit by a bus today---ha ha ha!!

Happy holidays everyone, and Merry Christmas!!

Chris

Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments Forgot to mention--I hereby commit to 250 books.

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments Christina, since I've discovered Boxall's 1001, also committed to reading as many of these recommended books. Also, of the ripe old-young age of 52, and have not committed to 250 books, have a goal of at least 75 books per year to the 1001 books. I'm glad to find a mutual adventurer in this quest and hope to encourage you onwards and upwards. :)

Merry Christmas to you!

Melissa Coyle | 1557 comments This is a list that sorts the 1001 Books by page number. http://books1001.livejournal.com/1660...

Overbooked ✎ (kiwi_fruit) | 800 comments Good luck Christina, your target of 250 books is impressive! have you already picked your books from the list?

message 6: by Tracey (new)

Tracey | 916 comments I too would like to read through the 1001 list, though admittedly I have only made it a small goal to read 15 next year (better not die any time soon at that rate). I am impressed by your goal of 250!

Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments Thanks, Melissa! It is also great to meet a fellow 1,001 books traveler. We may never get there, but we'll die trying. Get it? LOL And thanks for the list of sorting by page number, as I'll surely save War and Peace until the end, that is, if I don't get hit by a bus. he he he

Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments No, Kiwi, I tend to go by what titles sound good to me at the time, or what books I have always wanted to read but never got around to, you know? Right now I'm reading "A Prayer for Owen Meany," and there are a stack of books waiting after that. My mother says I came out of the womb grasping a book. LOL

Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments Chase, 15 books is still 15 more than you would have read. I never compare. It's a waste of time. Good luck!

The 1001 books list has always fascinated me.

If you want, set up a thread about it, or you could even try and convert it into a mini challenge! :)

Christina (kinderman) | 11 comments Oh Holly,

I am SO not good at setting up mini-challenges! But I appreciate tho thought, and it IS a great idea. Maybe somebody else will?
