In the next 20 pages Amir starts by describing his relationship with Hassan as not a friendship but the more he described it, it seemed like they were brothers. But as the chapter went on it became clear that he knew arhat Hassan was a servant. He would read to Hassan. As he saw Hassan learn how to understand poems he wouldn’t read challenging things because he was envious of Hassan ability to understand poetry. He would make fun of Hassan for not knowing what words were and the meaning behind the words.
