I may or may not get round to it... I know I'm being a bad mod by not reading the BotM but I've had little chance :( I'm at home for now and we have a copy, but I'm concentrating on the books I've been wanting to read for months first. So maybe I'll get round to it...
My main problem with BotM is if I don't have it on Kindle, and it's not cheap on Kindle, I can't join :(

I read it last year and I really liked it. It's definitely a more literary form of SF but I thought it was really captivating. I really liked the setting and all the strange genetically altered creatures.
I've read it a week ago and loved it! Clever and captivating. The atmosphere was tense and dark without having to describe too much of the setting. It definitely worked for me, sorry to hear about the disappointments.
It is annoying when that happens. It would be mice if people who voted for a book would actually read it.
Yeah :/ I mean, of course you're always welcome to do Buddy Reads with the runners up (or any book really!)
I will confess I voted for it because I really really didn't want Ancillary Sword to win....sorry about that....
I've read it last year and was partial about it. Intellectually engaging with a lot of valid social commentary, but characters, plot and setting all failed to connect with me.

Me too, every time I started to connect with the characters the whole gender thing would come up and I was completely confused on who was who again or what was happening, a very frustrating read for me.

Ok, I've now finished it. I really didn't care for it. I won't do spoilers, but this one just didn't click with me. I generally enjoy Atwood's writing, too. Oh well.
So I'm up to chapter five. It's a lot easier to read than the book I finished yesterday (Blood Meridian, or the Evening Redness in the West) but nowhere near as good. I keep waiting for the story to start. I'm about a quarter way through so it should be soon.
I'm on the final stretch. There is finally some dramatic tension. I'm thinking the MaddAddam Trilogy might have been better off as a single novel.
Finished with thirty minutes of 2014 to spare. It was pretty ordinary, but I'll probably come back for the sequel. Maybe in 2016.
I’ve only just read this but found it not to my taste. The whole thing was kind of boring and predictable. I found some of the splicing mixes interesting but in the whole that didn’t make up for the lack of action and the monotonous tone of Snowman.
I took a science fiction class in college and this was required reading. AKA I ended up having to skim to write a paper and didn't get to fully take it in. I've wanted to do a reread for ages. prob wont get to it this month my store will remain open during the pandemic so I'm working a lot.

Thus far, I must admit, I'm not loving it. I'm roughly 1/3 of the way in.
Anyone else?
