Nik Krasno | 19865 comments When the most popular advice is to stay away from public gatherings, lessen commuting and stuff like that and assuming one has enough stock of toilet paper and other essentials, the next question is how to spend more time home and for some - in solitude. Extra reading can be one of the choices. In a 'defensive' mood, not sure people would expand spending, but those having subscription and free reads, can maybe use it more. Maybe it's too early, but have you felt any difference? And would adding the word "virus" into keywords increase the discoverability? :)

W Yes,in such a situation I read a lot more.

Marie | 643 comments I would definitely be reading more as time well spent is reading more books. I would try and make the effort to put a dent in those 3000+ kindle books I haven't read yet. :-)

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8079 comments I've always felt sad for people who don't read, and especially so in times when one wants or needs to self-isolate. I know I'll never be bored because I can always pick up something to read. I subscribe to several print magazines, and I'm always trying to catch up on reading them.

Nik, what did you mean by the last statement about adding the word "virus" into keywords? Would that be to increase sales of an author's books?

message 5: by Philip (new)

Philip (phenweb) I have a virus book on sale and it includes that word - no change in sales - not sure I want the association bad things in fiction are fun until fact takes over.

When publishing a book, one needs to add a few keywords characterizing it. Philip answers this

Mike Robbins (mikerobbins) | 291 comments I posted a link to my author page this week, telling people to download my eBooks quickly before panic-buying set in. It worked quite well.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8079 comments Smart marketing! I got an email from my library Saturday saying that they'd be closed for two weeks beginning Monday. I went on Sunday and stocked up.

message 9: by Marie (new)

Marie | 643 comments I did hear that all libraries would be closing but I guess those of us who use digital can still download books through the overdrive. I have about 400 in my que on my library site. Of course why I would need to read those when I have now over 3500 in my amazon cloud is beyond me! I guess I just want variety! lol :)

Papaphilly | 5045 comments My reading habits have not really changed. I tend to read more no-fiction right now, but that was happening anyway.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8079 comments I still have plenty to read. Anyone else get antsy when you're reading the last book in the stack and don't have something else lined up? I need to have something to read.

That will never be a problem for me because I have 200 stacked up right now looking at me.

Scout (goodreadscomscout) | 8079 comments Since I switched to reading library books instead of buying books, I don't have that many in reserve. Good on you, though. If this thing lasts a year, you'll have plenty to read.
