Dina Given (dinagw) | 1 comments I have had a couple of hundred people add my book to their TBR list. My book just became available on Amazon as a pre-order. Is there a way to let those who have the book on their TBR know that it is now available without "spamming" everyone individually? Thanks.

rivka I see you already added a blog post, which would have been my first suggestion. You may also want to add a general status update.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) Have a mailing list people can join; put that mailing list link in your author profile and a status update.

Create a preorder event. If you have a decent following, maybe schedule a Q&A session around preorder or publication date.

Use your own review space for the book to note the preorder info, how to subscribe to mailing list, and any other tidbits a reader might find interesting. Blog posts and status updates are only seen on your author page or if goodreaders following you check their newsfeed at the right time. The review stays with book page unlike statuses/blog-posts.

Scroll to bottom of book page and start a new topic with preorder info and an invitation to discuss the book when available.

While in the books discussion topics, if any groups mentioned or discussed your book as an anticipated read or challenge item, ask moderator if you can comment with preorder info on that thread or if against group policies (groups set their own rules for author promotions and what is/isn't spam); offer moderator to start a Q&A or book discussion just for their group (or to stay out of any discussions depending how that group feels about author participation). Don't contact groups not mentioning your book that obviously are not into your particular genre or clearly do not want author promotion/participation (some love it or are even created specifically for, some allow only in certain folders or by invitation, some will kick you out and delete your posts/comments so if unclear ask the moderators...). Do look for groups or group folders/threads encouraging promotions/ announcements for new books and participate even if after posting you leave the group (if you use the "add book" option at top of comment box to code in your book it will shows n tooics on book page and in your author alerts as the discussion continues).

Keep in mind that lots of readers don't use the "to read" shelf to mean "to buy" or even wishlist. Many use it as the easiest button/menu to hit on a book page (particulalry if new and unsure how to do gr shelves or from small device screens), forget to uncheck shelving on TBR when using giveaways and other goodreads features, or to mean books they already have (or expect to borrow) but haven't read.,.

Debbie's Spurts (D.A.) @Dina, psssst...not on topic for original question but:

You need to post over in librarians group to get the series created for the book.

And to shelve book yourself by genre so it potentially shows* in new releases by genre, the new release email goodreads sends out to subscribed goodreaders, exploring by genre, etc. (Takes only two people shelving to put your book on a genre so I'd recommend creating custom shelves matching what users already used to shelve your book plus the genres/subgenres you feel are appropriate).

ETA: looks like potential readers have shelved at least once as Romance, Fantasy and Paranormal so you should go to book page and shelve it on those added shelves (or go to "My Books" and create the shelves then add book, either way works) plus other appropriate shelves/genres.

*Most gr features, lists, and emails your book might show up in are sorted by popularity/shelvings/ratings so while shelving appropriately helps don't get your hopes up too high—in larger genres (like Romance, Fantasy and Paranormal unfortunately) your book may be so extremely far down the list where fewer readers will scroll to see; the genre features are just free, readily available and book will certainly not be seen on those features if not listed at all.
