North started off so well they must have given the Eagles quite a fright. Took the latter till the final quarter to get going. Anita was closest to the pin (Eagles by 17) so she wins $6 for The Mirabel Foundation. Well done Anita!

"! ! ! DAVID ! ! ! ... ! ! ! WE'RE MISSING YOU ! ! !"
I have a feeling David said on the EPL punting thread that he was going to be away this week, so I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt and giving him the tips from the leading tipster in The Melbourne Age newspaper. They've never really worked when I've used them for Blastro, Suzy or anyone else who has been away - maybe David will have better luck.West Coast by 32 pts

Tonight's result:St Kilda Saints (Lez) v Greater Western Sydney Giants (Duke)

The Giants are in all sorts of trouble - a very disappointing end to their season! But St Kilda are into the Finals for the first time in a long time.
They've been in trouble for a while now Val....being beaten by the Crows was a very good indicator of that! They have amassed a huge injury list...again....so it's not surprising. Just The Dees and and the Doggies left vying for that 8th place. The Dees will have to hope that the Doggies will lose their game, and they win theirs, a tall order, but possible.

Hello Anita. Mother's got about as well as she's gonna get I think. We been told a couple of days ago that upon release she's gonna need round-the-clock 24-7 care. Some tough decisions to make now.
Don't think she even knows I'm her son anymore (she asked me if I knew her brother/my uncle, who died over 20 yrs ago) but I can still have a conversation with her and I'll take that. I mean three weeks ago I din't think she was gonna make it so... gotta be thankful. Just all seems so damn cruel.
Thanks for asking m'dear.
I don't envy you Blastro. As you say, tough decisions. Do you have any siblings who will also have a say? Your Mum must be a tough ol' gal to have pulled through. I hope she is happy even if she's not all with it and that whatever you decide works out well for all concerned. Take care.

Awww, Poppet ... x x x
It sounds like your Mum still seems to know that you are someone to be trusted to talk to and maybe she still retains some knowledge that you are someone that she cares about as well?
The good thing is that you still know who she is. She is still your Mum and you are still her Son. You love her and will continue to remind her of that love every day of the rest of her life - even when it is so hard on you and it hurts you so much that she no longer knows that you are her Son.
All of those incredibly precious and cherished memories that you got to make together over the years - they all still happened and nothing can ever get to take anything away from them - it's just that you will now be the one that gets to remember them for the both of you ... x x x (*HUGE HUGS*) x x x

Blastro ,so sorry about your mum ,I've got a 93 year old at home luckily she doesn't have any memory problems,I do feel very lucky seeing so many of my friends parents with dementia..I couldn't add anything better than the lovely things Suzy wrote.xx
Thanks for those kind words m'dears, really nice of yous. Nah Val, no siblings, just me. Obviously any big decisions rest on my shoulders but I do have me own family around so there's no lack of support in making said decisions or with me own issues.
Definitely some kinda recognition Suze, but I'm pretty sure she thinks I'm a friend of the family or something. Not something I'm gonna quiz her about, I don't want to confuse her any more than she is. Must be bloody awful to suffer from, I mean I watched me gran and now my mother's personalities just seep away over a few years... and when you add the stroke to the equation it's like shaking the whole bag and then seeing what falls out and what's left. Like I said before - cruel.
93 is good going Anita, especially with her faculties intact. No reason why she can't push on for the big 100 then, assuming she's physically ok. You females seem to be a damn sight tougher than us fellas.
Thanks again ladies, will let yous know how it all turns out.

We now get a week off until the first week of Finals on October 1st. I'll get back to you once I know exactly who is playing who and where. Tipping at this stage is purely voluntary but there is still money to be won for your charity over three weeks of Finals, plus the Grand Final. And you may be lucky enough to pick up some random cash if one of your team's players wins the Brownlow Medal (Best AND Fairest Player) - Brisbane's Lachie Neale is the hot favourite. Also the award for the 2020 Rising Star (Best First Year Player) - tipped to go to Freo's Caleb Serong. So hope to see you back next week!
