SOLVED. YA novel about time travel to Ancient Egypt. [s]

I read this book in the early 80's in middle school so it was probably written in the 70's. It starts with a young African American woman who is a curator at a museum. She opens up a mysterious box and is transported to Ancient Egypt. It is not the AE that we are familiar with but is technologically advanced with flying machines. She lands in some sort of political intrigue as she is the doppelganger of a missing princess. That is all I can remember, but it has always stuck with me. I hope someone else has read it and knows it!
