ABANDONED. YA (possible series) teens with powers have a graduation competition and go to war

Read: approx 2 years ago. Teen is shy at school and has subdued powers compared to her peers; gets bullied often. At the end of the school year, there is a big competition that people fight in using their powers. She is extremely smart so she wins the competition. Later she races people up a mountain and then goes to war.. she meets her sister in battle, but wins. She finally meets her 'mentor'.

Can you describe her family and friends? Her interests and hobbies?

Her parents are normal and I remember she has a birthday party with some friends from her school. She is pretty shy and is kind of an outsider at her school. I wish I remembered more. I want to reread this series!!

I read this book about the same time I read Legend by Marie Lu, The Declaration by Gemma Malley, and Shatter Me by Tahereh Mahi. They have the same vibe as the book series I am trying to find.
