Kim | 12 comments I’m really surprised by the comments here - I’ve enjoyed the first six chapters! There’s a lot happening, the author is setting the scene really well (I actually feel like I’m back at a British train station), Lisa is interesting and I like the cast of characters in and around the station.

We’ll see how it goes but I have a feeling this is more mystery based domestic thriller than an action packed adventure. I’m enjoying it so far!

Natali 'Tali' (talis-library) | 5 comments I am very intrigued by this so far. I can see why some people might say its boring, but I see it as setting up the story and I'm enjoying it!

Alaina Rodriguez I agree with just about everyone that this is pretty slow, but I'm still enjoying it! I like reading from Lisa's perspective and I'm interested in getting more details about her death and why this Matty guy apparently had a lot to do with it. I also want to know what's going on with this other guy who killed himself. I do hope the pacing picks up soon, but so far so good!

Noelle (spinningsilver) | 27 comments I'm intrigued by everything so far and I'm appreciating the slow burn, as long as it pays off.

Kelsey (booknook43) It took me a while to actually start reading it, just because I really didn't like the nature of the first chapter, because maybe it was..too slow? But I did like the atmosphere it set up. Intrigued and interested enough for me to continue!

Amanda Kuehl | 6 comments So far I am enjoying the book. The supernatural thing isn't really my fave but I'm interested to see where this goes. Hopefully we will be a little more excited after the next section of chapters. Seems to be a fast/easy read.

Amanda (Smitten For Fiction) (smittenforfiction) Umm...so, I guess I'm in the minority here...I'm enjoying this book! Listening to it on Scribd, and love the narrator. The writing style kind of reminds me of Neil Gaiman's style in a way that I can't explain.

The chapters are very long, so I can understand how many people are finding it slow. I don't know about you, but when a book has long chapters I often have a hard time getting through it.

I did make a note that if I was reading this instead of listening to the audiobook I probably would be having a hard time.

The gruesome details are a little cringy, and that's my thing (Stephen King is my fav author).

I like the deeper conversation themes of sexism and racism. Feeling very bad for Dalmar who is trying to be invisible.

* Trigger warnings so far: swearing, suicide, gruesome, grief

The descriptions of the ghost traveling around Peterborough are super boring...but I'm still very curious to see where this is heading.

Julissa | 4 comments Seems this book is going to be a slow burn-type of book and hopefully it has a decent pay-off. I can see why people might be bored, but it has captured the monotony of a train station. I do hope something happens soon, but I'm intrigued.

Katie Josephine | 7 comments Though I am not super invested in the story because it is so slow I am really enjoying the narrator of the audiobook. If I was reading it with my eyeballs I may have given up but the audiobook, I am into enough to keep going. I do think it’s cleaver that it’s from a ghosts point of view but it’s a super slow burn.

Marta Ricart | 4 comments i agree with so many of you! i'm rather bored so far, and i'm sort of sad about it. the synopsis made me think the tone of the book would be p different, and so far it's v contemplative and it barely has any action. also i'm a lil confused as to how the main character's memory works... she seems to know lots of things but then ignores many others. i'm still curious and i'm gonna keep going tho!

SpookySoto (wsoto3) Kim wrote: "Okay, I've just given up on this one. It's soooo boring and very slow, and I have absolutely no interest in reading any further. I just have too many books on my TBR pile that I can't waste time on..."

Me too

Amber | 1 comments I might have to switch to audiobook as it seems alot are enjoying that more than the physical book because as of right now I'm just not getting into it as much as I thought I would.

Cora | 11 comments I'm not enjoying this book as much as I thought I would. It's so slow and it's really boring. There's far too much detail about Peterborough train station and I'm just not interested. I'm gonna give it until chapter 14 before I decide whether to DNF.

Charlene (bookishlychar) | 34 comments I’m finding the story is not grabbing me as much as I had hoped. I ha e a couple questions that are pushing me forward a bit, but even then not so much.

message 65: by Nika (new) - added it

Nika | 7 comments I decided to DNF this after the first 6 chapters. I was bored, it was incredibly slow and I could not care less for anything that was happening.

Miss Nikki I'm definitely behind this month, but I think it has to do with the fact that this book is so slow! I agree with what everyone is saying here, I just started chapter 8 and am having a hard time wanting to pick it up, especially because I'm reading other, more interesting, books at this time as well :( Trying to stay positive though!! I'm hopeful that it picks up

Bokcamilla | 1 comments I like the book, I don´t think it´s boring as many else think.
I seen foward to see what happen next.
I listen to the audiobook.

Sabrina (foxyfox28) | 15 comments Anyone else having trouble reading lately? Even though I haven't left the house in 2 weeks I find it hard picking up this book let alone any book. And I'm liking it too. Generally I'm of fan of the contemplative style. But the days are counting down til the live show and I just can barely pick it up :(

I have barely picked up a book for the last week. There is no way I'd be able to push my way through this one. But I found out I'm out of work for a minimum of 6 weeks so I think the stress is distracting me too much. I imagine tons of people are too anxious to sit down and read lately.

message 70: by Emilly (new)

Emilly | 3 comments I just got to part three and while the book is slow I also find that the perspective is interesting enough that I will keep going and see if it picks up in the next part. I’m willing to continue for now but I also know that I’m really going to need something interesting to happen soon for me to get invested.

message 71: by Rina (new) - rated it 3 stars

Rina (rina_p) | 35 comments Ooh, I’m loving the atmospheric setting. Sure, it’s a bit slow, but I knew this wasn’t going to be an action packed Mystery book, so this was alright.

I was initially guessing Caleb was an old boyfriend who grieved for her death, but I’m not so sure anymore. Also I thought Dalmar was going to be a focus, but then he wasn’t.

I need to know more...

Abbey (abicarolyn) | 10 comments I agree that the beginning is quite slow, it’s all build up I assume but I’m not really minding that. I live in London and used to have to travel two hours on train for school so its like I’m back waiting for a train. Almost every commuter I know knows someone who witnessed a suicide on a platform and the way it’s dealt with is very accurate.

Jasmin Even though I like the setting since I'm very familiar with train stations, I'm also finding the beginning of this book incredibly slow. I hope the pace will pick up in the next few chapters.
I also haven't really connected with Lisa's character yet.

message 74: by Gay (new) - rated it 2 stars

Gay Weusten | 5 comments I started this book on the,25th and now, 6 days later I have finally finished the first 6 chapters. I am trying to get into this one but it is really challenging me. I'm hanging in there though as I get the feeling it will pick up at some stage

Louise Freeman (weezreads) | 5 comments I'm liking this book so far

Stars | 3 comments it's definitely difficult to picture his death and all, that part had me hooked and waiting for something. then it became dull, I hope it picks up real quick.

Rosie Rumsey | 7 comments i feel like Im just along for the ride on this story. and im actually enjoying it. its an easy read which is nice so far. Im a little confused on the thriller aspect. but we will see!

message 78: by Kate (new) - rated it 4 stars

Kate | 15 comments I am late starting this book, and though it is not the suspenseful mystery/thriller I was hoping for, I am actually enjoying the backstories of the various characters who work at the train station. So far I have not read many books featuring a paranormal element and I am intrigued by the idea of the book being told from Lisa's perspective as a ghost as she's been dead for 18 months. Finally, I am curious about the circumstances leading up to Lisa's death... basically, did she jump or was she pushed?

Claudia (31ninetyeighty) | 13 comments I just started it, but I hope I can finish it before the live show.
I am skimming a lot because the book doesn't really hold my attention. I feel like some of the details are not need it, but then maybe they are? What about the cat, he says it's possession not love. I wonder if that means something. And then the lady in orange, first I thought why emphasise how orange it is but then they she turns up again. Is she a ghost? And what is this tadpole like creature, also a ghost or something more sinister? I guess for now I'm going to continue reading a bit and see if those question getting answered.

Kassi | 2 comments Well I didn't struggle through the first 6 chapters like a lot of you but it is a little slow and chatty. Still intrigued so far, we'll see if that wears off. Usually I start books closer to the discussion because otherwise I forget a ton, but if it continues as slow as everyone says, I may not finish it in time.

message 81: by Ina (new) - rated it 4 stars

Ina (inawillems) | 15 comments So, I am obviously not reading this one in March. I always DNF slow books, because I just can't handle them, but unlike many of you, I don't find the book slow. I read the first 6 chapters in one sitting. I really enjoy the fact that she forgets and remembers, I can feel how she feels through the book. Looking forward to the rest of the book!
