SOLVED. Spaceships kidnapping humans! [s]

Hi all.
A buddy of mine told me about a book series where spaceships kidnap people into the individual ship where they fight to death against the previously kidnap victim in order to get the perfect captain. ( I do not consider the above as spoiler as it happens at the very beginning of the first book )
•spoiler: (view spoiler)[ Our hero somehow takes control of his spaceship by tricking the ships AI and transmits his knowledge to the other ships. Later he finds out that aliens are coming to eradicate earth and forms an army with advanced technology to fight back in spite of resistance from earth bureaucrats scared of his power (hide spoiler)]

Really hope you Guys can help me out. The description above is all I was told about the books except that he was fairly sure there were more than 3 books in the series.

I think that you might be looking for "Swarm" by B.V. Larson. It the first book in the Star Force series.
