So I kinda feel like an ass. I started last night and devoured like 40% of this book. (It's really easy to read) However, I do believe I will be fairly busy the next couple of days, so hopeful you two can catch up and I will feel less E-VIL.

9%: UGHHH I'm really regretting watching the movie first. I can't stop picture Dimitri as that actor now and I was soooo not attracted to the actor.

The female bond thing is interesting though. I like that bit and it could be very helpful considering she's her bodyguard. Although, I don't know how I'd feel about someone being able to get inside my head....

Yeah that part is weird....but I like that the focus is on the female friendship and not necessarily on insta-love romance.

I also saw the movie first so I keep picturing Rose and Lissy as the actresses....which isn't necessarily a bad thing but I wish I wasn't so biased now. And the Dimitri actor seems old.....that's my hang up with him. The book makes me think of Ian Somerhalder lol! I am like 60 pages in...

22% ...that is the second time I fell asleep while reading this. I just can't seem to get that page-turning feeling Karly, sorry...I'm pretty sure it's because I watched the movie and well, it's the exact same thing so far pretty much.

I don't like Rose, but I do like that they made her a bit more promiscuous than other heroines. Liss just seems like she's there. I can tell she's more reserved and they're polar opposites as far as characterization goes. I mean it's definitely not hard to read.

I'm just bored is all.

I actually like Rose. I kinda relate a little to her and like that she sticks up for her friend and isn't afraid to speak her mind. Lissy is just boring for me. But like you, Kat....I kinda know what happens so there isn't a bunch of page turning action in it for me either.

I was pretty sure she was gay the first half of the book... I didn't think mead did a good job expressing the love and bond.... Maybe that's just me.

Also, I see the girl hate because it's everywhere. In fact, I'm happy that Rose sticks up for herself but GAWD I hate her so much. She so hypocritical. She bitches about other people sleeping with other people and then when someone does the same to her, she's all like "nut-uh" ...that and she's a bully just as much as Mia is! She doesn't even give Christian a chance based on "rumors" and his family's past.

And Lissa is so boring. I mean she's reserved and she's a pushover, and never wants to do anything about anything. The only good thing about her is her compulsion.

I think that Christian is the only character I like.

And where the fuck is this story going? I got nothing except for...worldbuilding....classes...more worldbuilding...I'm a vampire....I'm a slut....I'm gonna talk about other sluts....I'm going to pretend to train....dead animals are showing up and it makes me sad....that's all I got.

Yes there is some unbelievable elements ( I agree about man vs. boy BUT made allowances because dhampires are supposed to be more bulky and moroi tall and lanky. Meh and anger/ fear can make people crazy stronger than they are. A friend of mine took his stepdad out at 14 for a similar scenario... Tmi. ) I found that tragic past necassary for Rose to be put in her place a out all the blood whore hate. She has to BUT is an idiot, of course, reconcile that this *bleh* human god was raised and loves his, again *bleh* blood- whore mother. The fact that dimitri can fight for a people that did that to his mother moved me... I am a sucker (hide spoiler)]

Like he's intelligent and only uses words that are necessary to get the point across...at least so far anyway. Hmmm...I don't know if it's too necessary, but it does have that affect.
