Sure. :) they're still set to whatever the last person to set-up their bracket picks chose. Will fix now.

Brock Stevens | 18 comments Thanks Amy for doing all this. One suggestion, I think the final round points scoring should be 8 points ( matches regular points scored in the other rounds except semis) . But even a better idea would be the points awarded be the winners vote total from the judges. Lets say LCA wins 13-4, people who picked LCA would get 13 points.

That's fun :)

Also, WHO WOULD HAVE GUESSED THESE FINALISTS? Oh right, basically no one. :)

Amy (asawatzky) | 1743 comments and now no one is going to catch Heidi! Heidi, your predictive skills are amazing! Congratulations!

Heidi (heidikatherine) | 92 comments Thank you, Amy! I have never participated in anything like this and I am so unbelievably pleased. What a weird and wonderful distraction and joy this has been these past few weeks. I couldn’t be more surprised or delighted by the ascendancy of Optic Nerve! (Does GR support emoji usage? Imagine lots of emojis throughout this comment, especially this one: 😂.)

Hooray Heidi!!!

Lauren Oertel | 1390 comments Congrats, Heidi! I'll start looking into which book to send you. :)

Heidi (heidikatherine) | 92 comments Books books books! Amy asked if I was happy with surprises by shelf-stalking and I totally am. Because I’ve been an on-and-off user over the past, I don’t know, decade? (Time is hard.) I’ll give some extra caveats/notes:

I care a lot more about the quality of the language than what kind of plot a book has. I like literary fiction, hard sci fi, non-erotic romance, and really scary thrillers. And the queerer the book, the happier I am. I read a lot of debut novels and favor women/non-binary authors.

The most accurate place to find my taste is my “favorites” shelf.

I’ll give people my address by DM. So just message me when you’re ready for it! And if this is a hardship/impossibility for you during this pandemic, please don’t worry. I’ve got plenty of reading material.

Can’t wait for the finale tomorrow!!! Thanks for making this all so fun, everyone.

Amy (asawatzky) | 1743 comments I'm kind of shocked no one picked Normal People to win (not as shocked there are no predictors for ON), but that means today's scores are the final ones!
1st place by a huge margin: Heidi
2nd place (comfortably): Karissa
3rd: Susan S
4th: Aaron
5th: Jayme
6th: Elizabeth
7th: C
8th-10th tie: Amy S, Bob Lopez, Lauren O

Thanks for playing everyone, this was really fun!

message 60: by Amy (new)

Amy (asawatzky) | 1743 comments also noticed Bob & Kip both picked the zombies correctly (nice job!) Hopefully that's some bragging rights to assuage the rest of your bracket upsets!

message 61: by Kip (new)

Kip Kyburz (kybrz) | 542 comments To celebrate I will finally read Zone One which I have owned for like 6 years.

message 62: by Susan (new)

Susan | 69 comments Congratulations Heidi! You were able to capture the predictable unpredictability of the TOB. Lol.

message 63: by Susan (new)

Susan | 69 comments Thanks Amy for creating the spreadsheet. I work in spreadsheets most of my day and I’m impressed with your mad skills!

message 64: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Marsh | 49 comments Congrats Heidi! PM me your address, I thankfully still have a decent job (surely one of the few in the service industry), so I would LOVE to send you a book.

Thank you so much Amy for all your time and effort! I had an absolute blast participating in this (and the GR group overall). I so annoyed my husband with my daily updates about my bracket 😂

message 65: by Jayme (new)

Jayme @Congrats, Heidi!

@Amy - Thanks for organizing a great TOB!

message 66: by Karissa (new)

Karissa | 32 comments Heidi, you were a formidable contender! As first place loser (lol), I'm looking forward to picking out and sending you a book. Please DM me your address.

message 67: by Bob (new)

Bob Lopez | 529 comments Honestly quite a banner year for me, won some swag, came in 10th here. Hope my luck continues into the Summer TOB and the Rooster of the Roosters!

message 68: by Bretnie (new)

Bretnie | 717 comments My book is in the mailbox, but we'll see if the mailperson picks it up with my stamps plastered all over it. :) According to usps it looks like I am supposed to take this to a post office, but we'll see...

C | 793 comments Yes, my books are in the mail to Heidi from Betterworldbooks.com! I hope you like them Heidi! (Surprise books.) I liked the year Alison won and there was a spreadsheet of what everyone sent. (but this would be more fun after Heidi receives her books -- or if she doesn't want to look at the spreadsheet until later on?)

message 70: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidikatherine) | 92 comments Thanks everyone! This feels like an embarrassment of riches right now. I’m happy to share what comes when it does, if you all want to claim it when I post?

message 71: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidikatherine) | 92 comments Hello again everyone and THANK YOU! If you all are interested, I made a shelf called “bracket contest 2020” so you can check out what I’ve gotten. These books look so incredibly good—some new to me and others I’ve wanted to read for a while!! I can’t wait to dig in 😊😍🥰

message 72: by Peggy (new)

Peggy | 255 comments Ooohhh...I just looked at that shelf--you are lucky indeed! What a lovely selection and wide-ranging too. Happy reading! :)

message 73: by Aaron (new)

Aaron Marsh | 49 comments I’m not gonna lie, I’m pretty jealous of you Heidi. What an incredible slate that is! My fav that I’ve read is The Buried Giant and I don’t even usually like fantasy

message 74: by Susan (new)

Susan | 69 comments Looks like you have some fantastic reading ahead of you. Two by Michelle Tea? Nice. Did you receive any duplicates?

message 75: by Heidi (new)

Heidi (heidikatherine) | 92 comments No duplicates! I feel spoiled rotten. You all made such incredible choices!
