Hi, I could use some feedback on my query letter. Thanks
Dear,
I am contacting you with regards to your expressed interest in children’s literature. I have written a 355-word picture book called, THE LITTLE FLOWER. The book is intended for ages 3-7 and appeals to all genders. While this is a picture book, it holds crossover appeal for older audiences, parents, and professionals dealing with children. Because of the message behind the story, many ages can pull from and understand the importance of embracing who you are and overcoming adversity. It also communicates the acceptance of oneself and the importance of inclusiveness.
A little flower sits in a flower garden, but just a little bud is still in the place of petals. All the flowers burst open to reveal brilliant shades of purple, red and yellow. The little flower waits patiently for its turn, but it never opens to display any radiant colors. The other flowers are mean to The little flower and call it names. The little flower wonders why it's not the same as the other flowers, as it continues to grow. And grow it does! Soon towering over them all. The higher it soars, the smaller they all become, and the little flower finds the world is vast and beautiful. It meets other tall flowers and plants that are nice, and just like The little flower, each one is different and unique in its own way. It continues to grow, until all of a sudden, the now large bud bursts open and… Reveals bright beautiful petals that shimmer in the sun.
This is intended to be part of a series that I am currently developing. Other titles can be provided on request.
Growing up in a household with a mother who is a post-secondary educator in early childhood development exposed me to a wide variety of children's literature. I love writing everything from poetry to novels and developed a passion for writing children’s books after starting my own family. I am a member of a professional writer’s group in my hometown. My involvement has helped fuel my interest and broadened my creativity for writing. I hope you will find my submission to be of interest. Thank you for your consideration. Sincerely,
