Found it!"The Night Market" by Jonathan Moore
Mystery/suspense novel about a cop/detective trying to figure out how many died after "melting" from nanocomputers replicating inside of him. The cop's partner dies after investigating due to contamination. Most people have their minds controlled to watch video advertisements and then go buy stuff. The cop enlists the help of a woman who he falls in love with to help solve the murders. She tries to convince him that people are being controlled.
SPOILERS BELOW
The cop leads the mind-control company/government to the girl because he is working for them. They probably kill her but he simply gets his mind cleared and put back out there to find more people who are rebelling.
