Jace glanced over at her before starting the car. He pulled out of the parking lot and began driving home. "How long were you in that home?" He asked quietly.
"Wow." Jace responded surprised that she was stuck there for three months. He couldn't imagine being stuck there for three months, watching a bunch of the younger kids go off to families while they just watched.
"No one wanted me because I don't talk that much." She says simply. most of her talking is done in her head.
"I'm sorry. Just because you're quiet doesn't mean that you are any different, that's really unfair. Then again life is always unfair." Jace bit his lower lip, stopping at the stoplight. He looked over at Liz.
"Oh I thought I told you it. I'm Jace Carstairs." He smiled gently at her. The light turned green and he kept driving toward his house.
"Thanks for giving me a home Mr. Carstairs." She says with a soft smile on her face. She finally had a place to really call a home after 4 years
"You don't have to thank me. And please call me Jace. " Jace smiled gently.((Be back later. Have to go to school..)
((ok. I;m at school...im supposed to be working on my govt. debate but I'm achieving nothing. lol))"ok. Jace it is." She says. its obvious she is starting to feel a little more comfortable around because she is talking a lot more, which she hadnt done a lot of in the past few years
(9I'm going to changed how long she has been there since she still has the bruises...the time is going to be about a month...a little less))
((Okay. That's fine.))Jace smiled as he drove. "If you don't mind me asking, where were you before you ended up at that house?" He had seen the bruises on her hands and wrists so he guessed the situation before wasn't very good for her.
Almost like putting on a mask, she turns her head so she is looking out the window "I dont really like to talk about it..." she says softly as her demeanor goes back to distant and quiet
"Okay." Jace spoke softly. He could understand why she wouldn't want to talk about If it was bad. He kept driving.
He turned into a suburban neighborhood and drove down the street. He pulled into the driveway at his house.
She hops out and slings her back pack over her shoulder as she takes in the new surroundings. After a moment of looking around, she follows him inside
He unlocked the front door and held it open for her. Jace waited for her to come inside before closing the door.
Jace set his keys down on the table by the door. "I can show you your room, if you want?" He offered.
"Okay. This way." Jace smiled slightly and led her upstairs. Her bedroom was the first door on the left. "Here it is." He told her, opening the door.
He stood at the doorway for a moment, watching her. "The bathroom is the second door on the left. I'll let you get settled." He turned away and began walking back downstairs.
Liz smiles "thanks for everything jace." She says as he walks out of the door. She flops down on the bed
Jace looked through the kitchen, which didn't have much. He made a mental note that he needed to go shopping soon. Jace was glad he took the week off of work.
"I just wish I could see you guys again..." She says softly as she puts the picture back in her bag and she descides to head down stairs
Jace was standing at the kitchen counter. He had a piece of paper out and was making a list of what he needed to buy from the grocery store.
Jace smiled and looked up at Liz. For a moment he stared at her. She looked so familiar to him. Liz looked kind of like his wife when he first met her.
"So is your wife at work?" She wondered, really hoping she had a mom again to hold her and tell her everything would be alright
"No, sadly. She died about six months ago." Jace spoke softly. His wife had been looking at adoption for about a year before she died.
"It's okay. You actually look a lot like her." Jace walked to where a picture frame was on the counter and picked it up. He showed it to Liz. It was a picture of Jace and his wife Addison. Addison had bright red hair and green eyes.
"Nah..She's way to pretty to be compared to me." She says with a smile as she takes the picture for a moment to look at it. "Any kids of your own?"
He took the picture and set it back down on the counter. "It's true and I am quite surprised that nobody has ever told you that." Jace responded with a smile.
"I just...haven't been with the right people. I was in the home because i used to be in-er- human sale..." she says softly, hoping he wouldnt send her back
