I loved this film. Recently went to see the stage version at The Old Vic with Richard Admits he as John Proctor. It was excellent...on par with the film.
Armitage not Admits! Damn auto correct.
Day-Lewis is probably the best living actor still in his prime. He was compelling in Crucible and in my view this is one of the rare cases where the film tells us more than the book.
I loved the book and the movie. Day-Lewis was superb, such a great actor. The rest of the cast were good as well.
