Martha Storm, volunteer librarian, spends her life doing things for others, but her life is shaken into a new direction when she receives a used book left by the library door in a package addressed to her. I am a fan of Phaedra Patrick's fiction and gave her other two novels four stars, but this one wasn't as enjoyable for me. It's not that her writing has gone down, but it's that I just couldn't relate to Martha (or her mother) even though she has a number of likable qualities. But, like her other books, there are a bevvy of fun and interesting characters, and there are certainly some mysteries to be solved starting with the date of something written inside the book that contains stories, some of which were penned by Martha when she was a child. I listened to all but the last chapter on audiobook, which is very well done indeed.
