Imagine Violet Blooming completes The Violet Trilogy. Set in Toronto and Muskoka in the early 20th century, we are immersed in Violet's daily life as she writes to friends and family about the challenges of managing a household with five children. She copes with the death of parents, organizes programs for womens' musical clubs and gradually grows into her role as the wife of a celebrated musician. Imagine Violet Blooming offers a wonderful glimpse into the world of polite society in turn-of-the-century Toronto. Her letters take everyday events and make them memorable. It's a slice of middle class life story within the context of the development of Toronto's first permanent, professional symphony orchestra. For fans of Victorian historical fiction.
If you want to get a better sense of my work, you might take a look at Imagining Violet and Part Two, Imagining Violet Married. Thanks for reading this far.

You may be interested to read my book that is a highly polished and easy read 65K words. There are elements of high fantasy inspired by Tolkien. I have read many of his books, but only just started to explore G.R.R Martins work.
If you would like to take a look at the first 1,300 words for free you can follow this link: www.thekissingtrees.com
I would be more than happy to send you the entire book in exchange for any valuable comments and feedback you may have. I do try and add some little bombs between the pages which I can assure you are completely harmless but may elicit emotions.
Anyway, you may read as much as you like! Mail me at betakissingtrees@gmail.com or direct message me on the forum if you would like me to send you the whole story.

I would love you to read it and give me your view - it has had quite a few rounds of edits but am still looking for beta readers comments on how to improve it. I will PM my email address.
Thanks
David

Your areas of interest give me hope that you might be up for beta-reading a (Western) historical romance. My Cowbird Creek series, set in the 1870s, features different residents in the small (fictional) Nebraska town by that name. You can take a look at the listing and reviews for Book 1, What Heals the Heart, to get a feel for the series and for me as an author.
I'm hoping to have the book ready for beta readers by around mid-April of this year.

Blurb
With her memory still blighted by a strange childhood accident, Donna comes to the old seaside estate in 1962 with no memory of the woman who willed it to her but ready to embrace newfound freedom, leaving a manipulative mother and years of debilitated confinement behind her.
When the rightful beneficiary of the old Beechwood estate turns up, humble musician and tenant Henry knows she's above his touch. She talks like Katherine Hepburn and dresses like Sophia Loren, and he's never even seen a smile like hers before. She's also five years younger. She's been sheltered. He's promised the estate's trustee to look after her - like "a big brother," and he's a man of his word.
But strange things happen when they're alone together, and as attraction intensifies, the sparks between them start to feel more physical than fanciful. As she's haunted by nightmares of the estate's tragic history, he's dismissing cryptic visions that suggest he's somehow met her before, and it's soon clear that the past, like their otherworldly attraction, cannot be ignored for long.

Quick blurb:
Zoe DiMartino had her first kiss at 15 with the soon-to-be popstar Felix Awad. When they hook up at a party ten years later, she finds herself pregnant with his kid. Zoe must navigate the ins and outs of pregnancy, the choices she makes, and her own depression. Oh - and that cute boy she met at work, because she's in no place to start a relationship...right?
If you're willing to take on something of that length (that will likely need to be cut down, of course) let me know! Feel free to pm me :)

It appears fiction>mystery in current times is not your usual read, but if after reading the summary below it draws your interest, and you want to read the rest, I would be interested in you beta reading my manuscript, Another Death By Accident
I do need a reply in 2 weeks - the 11-question questionnaire, plus any comments, and thoughts not covered in the questionnaire you believe important.
The story is about 176 pages (minus contents and front matter).
There are twists and turns, sadness, deception, madness, chuckles, and resolutions. The story takes place in Texas and Oklahoma.
If you are interested, let me know if you prefer the story in Word, MOBI format or printed.
This is my first time in this group (actually any group at goodreads), please let me know how to deliver the manuscript.
Thank you
Priscilla
---- story summary ----
There are:
Deaths by accident, not perpetrated by another,
Deaths made to look like accidents,
Deaths by accident intended for another.
The story starts with an accident, an accident that, in today’s world, is not precisely mundane but lacks interest due to its frequency. Some circumstances of this accident has the father of the young man killed doubting “it was an unfortunate accident.” If the accident was a misfortune, then why did the truck driver run away? Why was the semi stolen? Why did it barely miss ramming into the side of the car – was it a miss?
The investigation instigated by a grieving parent will accidentally collide and exposed those that prefer their business remain inconspicuous.
There is danger. A delicate psyche that has no bond with reality has nourished hatred to a need for vengeance. He wants revenge for perceived injuries. How long it takes or how it happens doesn’t matter, nor does collateral damage.

Thank you!
In the land of Fantacia, there are five Kingdoms that rule over all, each having its own species: Farian, Monstro, Mundus, Shifter, and Telik. The Kingdom's are constantly at odds and have been on the brink of war for years.
Hoping to take advantage of the Kingdom's disheveled state is Raven, a Mundus that has three-fourths of her body burned. Richard, a Farian with wings as dark as the night and an unmatched skillset with a sword. Colt, a Shifter with two different colored eyes who escaped the Shifter Kingdom and has unmatched fighting skills.
The small group wishes nothing more than to take over the Kingdom's and claim the thrones for themselves. However, one day Raven runs into the entity of Death, and he forces them to derail their plan and follow his, unknown to Richard and Colt. Raven has to go to the Kingdom that she never wanted to see again, the Mundus Kingdom. There, the group's secrets and pasts begin to slowly rise to the surface, threatning their plans. Raven is forced to do as Death says, which begins to take a physical and mental toll on Raven. However, they still have one goal - revenge.

I'm not sure if you're still available for beta reading, given how many requests you have (and having a job and a toddler - how do you do it!) However, if and when, you might be interested in my historical novel, The Wolf in Winter, set in dark-age Scotland. This is the first part of the Trystan Trilogy, a series of novels that retell the Tristan and Isolde legend, here reclaimed for Scotland as the probable source of the tales that were later compiled into the Mediaeval legend we all know.
The novel is written from the point of view of Corwynal (the Gorvenal of the legend.) He is the half-Caledonian son of the King of Lothian, and guardian and tutor to his much younger half-brother Trystan whom he secretly believes to be his own son. The story explores their changing relationship as Corwynal struggles to protect a boy desperate to win a name for himself when war erupts between Lothian and the Caledonian confederacy and their Scots allies. This becomes more and more difficult as Trystan begins to throw off Corwynal’s influence and forge his own way in the world, an independence that ultimately results in Trystan accepting a challenge from The Morholt, a famous Scot’s champion, a meeting Corwynal has long had nightmares about. Can he prevent what the Gods and fate have decreed? And how much is he prepared to sacrifice for the boy he believes to be his own son?
Although firmly based on Arthurian traditions, the Wolf in Winter isn’t the high fantasy one might expect. Instead it’s rooted in the available history of the times although, being of its time, there is belief in gods and spirits, in magic and omens and prophecy, all of which are important to the characters in the novel.
I'd be happy to send sample chapters so you could judge the quality of the writing.
Thanks!

I am looking for beta readers. My novel is long at 148K but I would appreciate you looking at a chapter or two. I am mainly concerned about readability and flow as I have meticulously edited the novel. Here is the link to my post on this website, https://www.goodreads.com/topic/show/... or you can manually check for it under authors looking for free beta readers. Thank you for any consideration.
I have been influenced by J.R.R. Tolkein and thirty-seven years of Dungeons & Dragons games and books.

We are in the process of setting up a new Beta Reading Group, for all of our new releases. We're hoping to get a large handful of people who basically love reading, and are passionate about the art of story telling. We will, of course, provide a PDF copy of the book along side some questions and feedback.

I have a novel that I am hoping for a beta to read before I am hopefully able to take it further. I would appreciate your opinion, if you can spare the time.
Blurb - The White, with its relentless cold and ice, would ravage the land of Arden for the first three years of every five. It was with those ominous snow clouds cresting the mountains of Messemmi, that nine-year-old orphan Priya, and her younger brother Reed, passed into the capital. They unwittingly stepped into a world of poverty and privilege . A world of muskets and swords . A world of ambition and darkness. It was a world in which Priya and Reed would find themselves fighting for both their lives and their freedom. An unfolding battle that would see them at odds with Arden's Emir and his army of Brass. With a lot of luck, and a little magi, it was a world that Priya and Reed were destined to change forever, or die trying.
Please let me know if this is anything you would be interested in reading.
Many thanks
Nick

Summary
Alaric and Leroy, two normal brothers who live at a military orphanage that is secluded from the rest of the world. The kids here were abandoned by their parents and are now raised their whole lives to join the army. The weird thing is, none of the kids nor instructors at the orphanage know anything about where the kids came from or who their parents even are. Every time a kid asks, they get a quick response like, “You were dropped off in the middle of the night.” This doesn’t fly with Leroy, who is determined to find out who his and Alaric’s parents are and why they did not want them. Until Leroy is shipped off to another orphanage and Alaric is left alone while finding out the truth that they are not normal children, but androids created by the General. Can he escape the lie they have been forced into or is it impossible for a puppet to be free?
Thank you, I look forward to hearing from you if you are interested,

My name is Natalie and as the title might indicate, I am available for beta reading.
I have two jobs, firstly I work in the financial industry on a part time basis (big yawn, I know!) and second I'm a full time mum of one very mischievous toddler!
When I am not busy with life and it's challenges, I escape into the wonderful world of books.
My preferred genes are;
Historical fiction - I enjoy reading about anything from Ancient Egypt to the Victorian era, but I have a soft spot for anything Tudor related.
Fantasy - Mostly I read high fantasy and my favourite authors are J R R Tolkien, George R R Martin, Katherine Kerr and Terry Brooks. I am not really into urban fantasy though!
Romance - I like a good year jerker or a good regency romance. Nicholas Sparks, Robyn Carr, Barbara Bickmore.
Although I enjoy above type of books the most, I am up for most any reading experience so if you think I'd be a good fit, let me know here or in a pm and we can take it from there!
All the best,
Natalie
