SOLVED. SciFi/Fantasy humor, guy with "magic" bicycle that can travel between parallel universes. [s]

Book (I believe it was a series of at least 3 but I may be misremembering) about a guy that somehow gets a bicycle from some sort of god/alien-like character he refers to as "The Old Man". The bicycle allows him to access some sort of series of portals that lead to different dimensions or worlds or something.

Probably published in the late 80s or early 90s, definitely straight to paperback, probably shelved with all of the silly Alan Dean Foster, Piers Anthony, and similar scifi/fantasy humor stuff that came out around that time.

Could it be The Magic Bicycle, or is that too much of a children's book? It's not in the description, but the bicycle flies and I'm almost certain that there's something similar to portals to other dimensions. There's also an Old Man character, though I don't remember whether he had something to do with receiving the bicycle.
