SOLVED. Action/horror novel where an aircraft crashes near an American town and the unit from the plane start killing the residents. [s]

I'm trying to remember a novel I read, about ten years or so ago. I get the feeling it was called Fear or a similar single word but I could be misremembering.

The plot was around a crashed military plane with a psychopathic unit on it. They start torturing and murdering the residents of the local farms and town; and the characters are trying to work out what's happening and of course stop it. Thanks
