During the year he was held captive, Cole suffered unbelievable torture and his memory of his one night with Ginny gave him the will to survive. Do you think if he’d found Ginny he might have over idealized her? Would she have met his expectations?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think eventually he would have been disappointed that she did not live up to his fantasy of her.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments I don't think there was anyway she could have lived up to his idealized Ginny.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Cole held other people to very high standards, didn't he?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9278 comments Mod
Part of the reason he couldn’t see Imogen was because of his overblown idolatry of his memory of Ginny. For goodness sake, it was one night! No way would anyone have lived up to that.

Karen ♐ (kmk1214) | 909 comments I don’t think it would be possible for anyone to live up to those expectations. I thought the same thing too, Jonetta. Come on, one night? Would you really be so obsessed with finding her?

Jonetta (ejaygirl) | 9278 comments Mod
His fixation came from her being his touchstone during his torture. That memory kept him alive so he had to find her. I understood that obsession.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1803 comments His idealization of Ginny didn't make sense to me. Not only did he barely know her, but she was of a much lower social class.

If Ginny had remained at the Bare Kitten, I doubt that she would have lived up to Cole's expectations.
