SOLVED. Hero is left at the altar by the heroine's friend. [s]

Hero is the mayor or someone important in the town. Heroine convinces the bride to leave the hero because she's doesn't think he loves her. I think the heroine's family are famous/rich people but somehow heroine ends up broke so she has to make ends meet by working as a maid in a hotel or something. I can't be sure but I think the heroine almost gets raped in the later part of the book.
