In Turtles All the Way Down, Aza Holmes, an overthinking 16-year-old, finds herself trying to solve the mystery of the disappearance of an old friend's father. Throughout the book, Aza struggles with managing her anxiety and obsessive-compulsive disorder.
When reading the book I could feel myself connecting with the characters through the spectacular way Green writes. I enjoyed reading about the connection between Aza and Davis, and the strengthening connection between Aza and Daisy. The ways relationships work, platonic or romantic, in this book really spoke to me. I recommend this book wholeheartedly to anyone. I rate it 4.5 out of 5.
TATWD is an awesome book about mental health. It is ideally written for young adults but all ages are strongly recommended to read it. If needed, you just don't read but understand it too. You need to emphatize with the character of Aza. Yes, she is a fiction character but John Green's sublime characterization of an anxious person needs to inspire anyone to step forward and get professional help if needed. Anxiety is a normal feeling in daily lifestyle but when this feeling becomes extreme, a psychiatrist can help you get through it.
