ABANDONED. 1960-70 book cover with a man and use of purple and black

I had this book when I was a kid. The only thing I remember about it was that it was definitely old (probably <80s, most likely closer to the 60s or 70s,) and the cover was a painting of a man in a hat (he mightve been black)-- the big thing about this was that the cover was painted/illustrated mainly purple with some black, maybe yellow? it was almost abstract but not quite. i think it looked a lot like the cover of Danny Brown's "Atrocity Exhibition"Danny Brown's "Atrocity Exhibition" album cover„ but depicting a (black?) man (in a hat, MAYBE) walking or in movement of some sort. It MIGHTVE been about black people/african american stuff? not sure. never read it. just interested in the cover. Again, it was definitely an older book-- had it on that old style of hardcover with the stitched-in sides and cloth bindings and stuff.
