Rachel | 7 comments Hi All!

We are at a point where we can be deliberate about our human evolution. So, I released a book called "Humanity, Uploaded" to propose a direction for our path, in the backdrop of our changing environmental conditions. The book explores the science and technology that we can leverage as it discusses how we need to make a few changes in our society to leverage them.

Most importantly, the book is intended to open up a dialogue, so I'd love your feedback. If you're into this kinda stuff, check it out and let's begin designing our future!

Hi Rachel,

Interesting book you have there! I just want to see if you ever heard of a resource-based economy by Jacque Fresco. Just from your summary, I notice some of the similarities between your vision and his. Are there any differences? I'll read your book eventually to get my own perspective.

Rachel | 7 comments Hi Zullay,

Thanks for calling this out!! I totally align with a resource based economy, and I think the world is trending in this direction. Humanity, Uploaded expands on this a bit to explore how technology can help us take advantage of natural resources (both known to us on Earth and perhaps unknown to us as we colonize space).

Oh, and since you mentioned the possibility of another book based on comments, I just want to include that one of the dire things needed is the change of our culture if this change of direction will not continue excluding others.

Rachel | 7 comments I agree that we need to change our culture, and the approach "Humanity, Uploaded" takes actually actually has no room for exclusion. The angle for this change, in the book, is oriented on community building. And, there's a physical nature to it - with newly emerging cities and towns, we can literally move into a more "tribal" lifestyle. The reason for this angle is that we may need to split our species off into a few separate tracks as we start to integrate with technology to advance our capabilities.

Tighter communities have long term and short term benefits. In the short term (beyond just living a more enjoyable life and sharing responsibilities with one another) tighter communities will help us align ourselves with "fit for circumstance," the idea that some might be more suited to transform into one offshoot of our species while others may be suited to evolve into another offshoot. Tribal-like cities can help us take advantage of similar technology for our transformation. In the long term, for example, I talk about a group of "Galactic Uploaders" that start to evolve themselves for long-term survival in space. They will constantly split form one another and will depend on their community for survival. So, earlier forms of community living just helps us build social-muscle for that survival.

Hi Rachel,

I was wondering, are you proposing or attempting to organize an organization that brings these goals & objectives into light or is this focused on theory? Do you think that this matters? I know the zeitgeist movement is another org. that also has this vision besides the one I mentioned previously. Thank you for your insight.

Rachel | 7 comments Hi Zullay!

I had to research the zeitgeist movement. :) Thanks for bringing that to my attention. An organization around some of the topics proposed in the book is certainly an idea that I've been toying with. I was thinking that it will focus on social good projects.
